Early Life

She was born in Locust Ridge, Tennessee, Parton, on January 19, 1946. In rural Appalachia, Parton grew up poor. She is one of twelve children, and her family always had money to deal with.

Her first music exposure was from her family members and her mother, who sang and played guitar. At an early age, when she was in church, she also learned about music.

Parton got her family’s first guitar and started to write her tunes soon. At age of 10, she starts to play professionally, appearing on Knoxville’s local TV and radio shows.

Three years later, Parton made her debut at Grand Ole Opry. Following a music career after graduating from high school, she moved to Nashville.

Solo Artist And “Jolene”

In 1967, Parton began his career in singing. She partnered at the Porter Wagoner Show around that time with Porter Wagoner. Parton and Wagoner were famous duos, and the couple recorded a variety of hits.

Her shapely curves, her small stature, and her warm personality, a thinking, visionary, and business-focused artist for some. Parton has protected since its very beginning its publication rights to its songs catalogue that gained millions in royalties.

Parton also helped her land an agreement with RCA Records with her work on Wagoner. In 1971, Parton scored their first country hit 1971, after several charting singles, with “Joshua,” a track with bluegrasses inspired by two lone characters who find love.

More No. 1 hit followed in the mid-70s, including “Jolene,” a haunting single in which a lady begs another beautiful wife not to take her husband, and “I Will Always Love You.”

The title track is another No one hit for Parton in both pop and country charts. It awards an Academy Award appointment with one of his most memorable opening lines in popular music history.

Parton then starred in The best little Whorehouse in Texas with Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise in 1982, helping her song I Will Always Love You introduce a new generation.

Next year she scored an additional big battle with her duet with Kenny Rogers “Islands in the Stream.”
