Steven Hiroyuki Aoki was born November 30, 1977, in Los Angeles and voted the highest grossing dance artist in North America for 2012. Iggy Azalea, Afrojack, Linkin Park, and Will.i.am are among the artists he works with.

Early Life

In Miami, Florida, Steven Hiroyuki Aoki was born. He grew up in Newport Beach, California. Newport Harbor High School, where he played badminton on the varsity team, was his alma mater in 1995.

As the third child of Rocky Aoki and Chizuru Kobayashi, he is of Japanese descent. In addition to wrestling, his father founded the Benihana restaurant chain.

Kevin and Kana are his older siblings (owner of Doraku Sushi restaurant). Devon Aoki, a model and actress, is Aoki’s half-sister.

His Education

Aoki studied sociology and feminist studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Steve’s Biko room in the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative, located in Isla Vista, a residential area adjacent to UCSB, produced his records and held underground concerts.

The apartment known The Pickle Patch as a concert venue. On the UCSB campus, Aoki founded a chapter of the Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League. It is not until he is in his early 20s that Aoki had built his record label.

His Nominations For Awards

There are several industry awards that Aoki is winning or nominating for, both from annual competitions and magazine rankings.

Awarded Best Party Rocker DJ by BPM Magazine, Best DJ of the Year by Paper Magazine and Best Set of the Season at the Ibiza Awards in 2007, he has also names Best DJ of the Year by Paper Magazine.

After a few years, in 2012, DJ Magazine placed him at #15 on its “Top 100” list and ranked him as the #2 best DJ in the United States. He nominates for his first Grammy in 2013 and won the EDM Effect Woodie Award by MTVu.

Guinness World Records

He won two Guinness World Records in 2014, one for the “longest crowd cheer” and the other for “the most glow sticks for thirty seconds”.

The Ultra Music Festival in Miami Beach on May 21, Aoki performed a set. With 161 shows in 41 countries, he also holds the Guinness World Record for “most travelled musician in a year”.

On EDM.com’s list of 11 most charitable EDM producers, Aoki ranks No. 1 on their list of the eleven most charitable EDM producers.

Humanitarian Funding Organization

Steve Aoki founded it to raise money for global humanitarian relief organisations and medical research. Hence he is the founder of the Steve Aoki Charitable Fund. Aoki’s concerts, “memorabilia auctions”, and collaborations with other artists are among the organisation’s fund-raising methods.

Earlier this year, he is naming as Global Ambassador for the Best Buddies programme. Hence a non-profit devote to helping young people with developmental or intellectual disabilities.

Around the same time, MTV Latin America presented Aoki with the Chiuku Award for humanitarian work to recognise his humanitarian work. Therefore the award presents to him at the International Dance Music Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada.
