Wine Before Liquor, How About A Beer First? Either Way, You’ll Be Hung Over: You’ll be fine if you start with a beer before moving on to wine. Drinking in reverse, however, with your vino coming first, may not leave you feeling as energised. That’s how the axiom goes when you’re drunk. In fraternity houses and dinner parties where there is a good chance of overindulgence.

Despite this, the researchers were able to uncover some valuable information. Although women had slightly worse hangovers than men, personal characteristics such as gender, age, height, weight, and drinking habits did not appear to be predictive of the severity of a hangover.

Vomiting and apparent intoxication seemed to indicate a worsening hangover. Sick people were more likely to report a severe hangover than those who drank the allotted amount without getting sick.

Higher scores on the 0-to-10 scale of drunkenness were associated with worse post-drinking symptoms, too. A hangover is the result of drinking too much alcohol the night before.

What Is Hangover? | Wine Before Liquor

Scientists are baffled by hangovers. That affect more than American drinkers. Some people have them, while others don’t. It’s unclear why this is.

Furthermore, it isn’t clear what causes them to worsen or even what can be done to prevent them (except not drinking, of course).

The symptoms of a hangover are most likely the result of blood alcohol concentrations that were elevated and the subsequent effects of those concentrations returning to normal.

Drinking large amounts of alcohol may also lead to dehydration, which can cause you to feel sick even if you haven’t had any alcoholic beverages.

The order in which you drink alcohol had been thought to have an effect until this study. That is no longer the case.

To be clear, however, this study has some limitations when it comes to hangover-inducing alcohol.

Drinking In Moderation

Being a teetotaler is a tried-and-true method for avoiding hangovers. Totally abstain. But if you find yourself tempted by a glass of pinot or a pint. Remember the rule of moderation that applies to so many things:

Pace yourself the next time you go out for a night of drinking. Drinking one drink every hour allows your body ample time to process the alcohol.

Preventing you from becoming excessively inebriated. If you need something to drink, try a glass of water or a bottle of seltzer water with lime.
